Protesters: We’re not going to stop until something changes

Protesters of all ages gathered outside of the federal building in Bangor Wednesday afternoon calling on lawmakers to make changes to gun laws before another tragedy takes place.

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- In light of the recent school shooting in Florida, protesters of all ages gathered outside of the federal building in Bangor Wednesday afternoon, calling on lawmakers to make changes to gun laws before another tragedy takes place.

"This isn’t an issue for politics it’s an issue about people," Delaney Smith said. "I think as the human race it’s really important to stand up for our fellow citizens in our fellow people when something like this is happening to them."

Dozens of signs displayed their call for action, saying enough is enough and that school safety shouldn't be a political issue.

"As the kids of the next generation we are extremely concerned and we want change," Emily Homer said. "We’re just trying to prevent anything before it does happen and change the rules because it’s not just a one place situation it’s everywhere."

Those who were there wrote on a poster to express the changes they wish to see.

"I think that we need to keep fighting until the lawmakers finally realize that we’re not going to stop until something changes," Moxie McBreairty said.
