BOWDOINHAM (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A teenage boy has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a Bowdoinham woman.
State police said the boy, who lives in Bowdoinham, was arrested Wednesday afternoon as he was released from a hospital in Brunswick, according to the state Public Safety spokesperson.
Since he's a juvenile, officials say they are not releasing his name at this time.
The boy had been admitted to Mid Coast Hospital on Monday, the same day sheriff's deputies found 55-year-old Marie Sylvester severely injured and unresponsive inside her home. She, too, was admitted to Mid Coast Hospital that day.
Sylvester later died at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The boy has been taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland. He's expected to make his initial appearance in court Friday afternoon in West Bath.
State police did not release a cause of death. They did classify the death as a homicide.
