LISBON, Maine — A man was found dead in the Androscoggin River in Lisbon Wednesday morning, according to police.
The man, who was not identified, was found by the Eagle Creek Renewable Energy Dam on Canal Street in Lisbon Falls around 10 a.m., according to Lisbon Police Chief Ryan McGee. The man was taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
"This is an active investigation and there are no known threats to the public, and at this time we do not have any further information we can share," McGee said in a statement.
Maine State Police are assisting in the investigation, according to McGee.
The Lisbon and Durham fire departments and Maine Marine Patrol worked together to recover the body.
