State police: Plane crashes in Limington

A state trooper arrived at the scene and found a bright yellow plane "nose-down into the ground in the woods," state officials said.

LIMINGTON, Maine — A plane crashed after the engine failed in Limington on Thursday afternoon, state police say.

At about 12:30 p.m., Maine State Police responded to the area of the Limington-Harmon Airport for a report of a plane crash, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.

Moss said the crash occurred next to a clearing in the woods in the area of the North Road and Sutton Hill Drive intersection.

A state trooper arrived at the scene and found a bright yellow plane "nose-down into the ground in the woods," according to the release.

The pilot, 62-year-old Bradley Marston, of Windham, was reportedly walking around the scene and identified himself to police. He was the only occupant of the plane at the time of the crash.

"Mr. Marston stated he had just taken off from the Limington Airport when he had engine failure and the plane crashed less than a mile west of the airport," the release stated.

Marston was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene and was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, Moss said.

"The Maine State Police and the Maine Forest Service secured the scene until the Federal Aviation Administration arrived to process the scene," the release said.

No additional information has been released.
