(NEWS CENTER Maine) — Four more people in Maine have died from the flu according to the Center for Disease Control, bringing this season's total deaths to 28 people.
The CDC reports that flu cases continued to rise last week, (ending Saturday, Jan. 27), with 90 people in the state being hospitalized for the flu with the youngest being only 8-months old.
There have been 538 new cases of influenza last week alone bringing the total number of flu cases to 2,307 for the flu season which runs from October to May.
There were 531 new cases the previous week, and the last three weeks have been the most severe in Maine so far.
