Community hopes to begin "healing" process after Marissa Kennedy's death

A candlelight vigil was held in memory of the 10-year-old who was killed last week.

STOCKTON SPRINGS (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Community members in Stockton Springs are still coping with the gruesome details surrounding 10-year-old Marissa Kennedy's death.

According to court documents, the little girl was beaten to death by her mother and stepfather.

Sunday members of the town held a candlelight vigil in her honor. There were songs, poems, and scriptures.

Organizer Kristina Braga says the aim was to allow folks to begin the healing process.
