Want to declutter and make money? We’ve got some tips

207’s tech guy recommends the best websites for Mainers who want to buy or sell

PORTLAND, Maine — Long before Americans started spending an unprecedented amount of time sheltering in their homes, they’d started to realize they had an awful lot of stuff they didn’t need. Marie Kondo struck gold when she tapped into that vein a few years ago with her book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” which not only sold millions of copies around the world, but is even credited with boosting sales of shredders. Her advice: Get rid of anything you have that doesn’t spark joy. Presumably the 2011 credit card statements stashed in the back of a closet fall into that category.

What’s even more rewarding than getting rid of clutter is getting rid of clutter and making some cash off what you unload. Numerous websites will help you buy and sell items, but only a handful really have a presence in Maine. 207’s tech guy, Rich Brooks of Flyte New Media, went looking for the best. Watch our conversation to see what he came up with.
