700 Boston Post Canes were made and given to town selectmen in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Arlene Brann Brown received the Boston Post Cane in West Gardiner on October 25, 2018 at the age of 98 for being the oldest member of their community. She has lived in West Gardiner since she was 18-years-old.

Up until 2016, Arlene Brann Brown cared for her blind grandson Tim whom she says she misses terribly. .

At 98, Arlene Brann Brown still plays the piano and mops and vacuums her floors every day.

All the important dates of her life are kept in her Bible. Arlene still attends church every Sunday and encourages her children and grandchildren to do the same.

Arlene's family told the 98-year-old she was going to vote on Oct. 25 at the town offices and then surprised her with the Boston Post Cane ceremony.
