The New Year arrived on Jan. 8 by Neptune-time. Caleb Neptune (9 lbs 3 oz) was born on that day at 8:46 a.m. He was the first baby of 2017 at Down East Community Hospital in Machias. His parents are Sage Neptune and Tyler Davis of Pleasant Point.
The New Year had barely begun when Zander Callahan arrived just three minutes past midnight. He was born at St. Mary's Health System in Lewiston to Charlotte Callahan. Zander weighs 7.3 lbs and measures 19.5 inches long.
Oliver Michael Frank was the first baby to be born in 2017 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He arrived at 3:59 am.

Elliott Longmore was born knowing how to dress for the Maine winter with his knit cap. His parents are Kayleigh Henderson & Tyler Longmore of Saco. They all met each other at 9:43 am at SMHC in Biddeford. Elliott is 7 lbs 1 oz and 22 inches long.
A pile of birthday presents greeted Irik Rea Tobin when he arrived at 12:39 pm at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. His parents, Hilary & Martin, got a basket of goodies from local businesses. Irik himself was quite a bundle at 8 lbs 6.8 oz
Maine Medical Center in Portland waited until 2:43 pm for its first baby of 2017. But Aiden Kaito Kotch was worth the wait. He is 6 lbs 4 oz and 49.5 cm long. He'll be going home to Dayton with Natsumi and Austin Kotch.
