MAINE, USA — Slick roads, reduced visibility, and snowbanks ... it must be winter in Maine!

Another weak system is passing through this morning, bringing a light coating of snow to most of the state.

Since temperatures are in the 20s, it's sticking immediately. Roads, especially untreated ones, will be slick through the entire morning. Conditions should improve as the day goes on.

Another thing to watch is some freezing drizzle.

There aren't many pockets of it, but it's allowing for a light icy glaze where it does fall. Coastal areas have the highest risk of seeing a little bit of freezing rain get mixed in.

So far, snow totals have mostly been around an inch to two inches. While this is not a lot of snow, it's coming in right as people get ready to hit the roads for the morning commute.

The snowflakes falling are fairly large. As snow showers move in, visibility will drop.

Most spots will see visibility in the 2- to 5-mile range, but it could drop even lower under heavier snow showers.

With a brief intensification as this storm tracks east, a period of steadier and heavier snow is possible Downeast.

Even with this potential, everyone should be cleared out by noon.

High temperatures today climb back into the mid-30s under partly sunny skies.

Roads will clear up nicely later in the day.

Quiet weather is expected through Friday.

Beyond this, though, there's a bigger storm in the weekend forecast. We still have more questions than answers, but it certainly could mean an interesting start to the new year.
