We may see a few ocean effect flakes this afternoon, especially along the York County coastline, but I don;t expect it to be enough to impact evening commuters.
As you're sitting down to eat your bowl of ice cream and binge watch your favorite show, the snow will blossom over Southern Maine with flurries for Eastern Maine.
The best lift and dynamics move through during the pre-dawn hours and morning commute. Snow rates will be briefly intense making for a very difficult morning commute. The lower levels will be warming and there's a good chance that some rain mixes in along the coast.
The the off switch gets flipped and all precipitation shuts down in Southern Maine by 9AM, noon for Eastern Maine, and 3PM for Northern Maine.
By the afternoon the sun is shining again but temps are dropping below freezing. By late evening everything will be frozen solid. As the extreme cold arrives there may be a few snow squalls.
Total Snow Amounts: 2-4" near the coast where the snow is wetter or mixes with rain. 4-8" for the rest of Maine. There will likely be some south facing mountains that crank out upslope snow get more than 8".
