MAINE, USA — A powerful cold front will slice through northern New England this afternoon with a line of gusty showers and potential thunderstorms. The action will ramp up after lunch and peak between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Several showers may be briefly intense and include a few claps of thunder. Southwest wind will be increasing through the afternoon and any convection could bring down wind gusts around 40 mph or even slightly higher.
With the foliage season well underway, leaves will get stripped from trees. A few branches may break leading to isolated power outages as well. I want to stress, this will not be anything like last week's power outage event.
The rain will come to an end this evening but the wind will continue to crank away driving in a chilly airmass for the end of the week. Highs only in the mid 50s Thursday and Friday.
