Brutal, just brutal. This cold is harsh and wearing the right clothing and gear is a must. Windchill values will dip as low as 20 below in bigger gusts for the first few hours of the day.
Highs pressure will slide off the coast later today and tonight, allowing milder air to flow back in.
Temps will climb above freezing into the 30s on Wednesday. The mild airmass will interact with the departing cold one creating a few snow showers in the afternoon too.
Our next storm will track to our west guiding a surge of warmth and rain into Northern New England, tough to do in January. When it rains in the colder months I'm always concerned for ice. There may be a little on the front end very early Thursday morning, especially away from the coast. There will also be some snow for the mountains and north but most of us will be just wet.
