Snow, a mix and rain will move in while many people are out celebrating New Year's Eve.

Our forecast is pretty much on track. I will admit: The rain/snow line for this storm is tricky. I'm still leaning colder than most computer models right now. Check back Monday in case we have to make any last minute tweaks.

If you have plans during the day Monday, they're totally fine. We'll have increasing clouds with temperatures rising into the 30s.

Early Monday evening, there will be no issues.

It's not until 9 p.m. that the precipitation will move into western Maine, closer to 11 p.m. in central Maine, 1 a.m. in eastern Maine. If you're east or north of Bangor, you have the best chance of getting your plans in through midnight with no problems.

The worst travel around midnight will be inland across western Maine, where there already will be some accumulation.

Along the coast of York County, it may be all rain. The rain/snow line will set up right around the Greater Portland area. It might be wet right at the water, but snowy on the west side of town. Along the Midcoast, a southerly wind will prevent much snow along the water's edge, but inland off the islands and peninsulas there should be some accumulation.

By Tuesday morning, the rain/snow line will be pushing north, with all rain in central and southern Maine. There could be some icy spots inland, but things will be much improved.

In total, we are expecting a coating to 2 inches of snow near the coast and in most of York County. This will be washed away by rain.

2 to 4 inches of snow for northern York County, the Sebago Lake area, Lewiston, Augusta, Bangor, into the Downeast coast.

4 to 7 inches of snow is expected for the mountains, into northern Maine. Much like the last storm, it may be cold enough for parts of Washington County to be in this range too.

Happy New Year! Be safe.
