Maine will end February and start March with more snow in the forecast.

PORTLAND, Maine — It's not time to put away the shovels and plows in Maine yet. An area of low pressure is getting its act together in the Plains before it barrels toward New England.

Winter storm watches are up for a parts of southern Maine from Tuesday into early Wednesday.

Another snowstorm is set to move into the region by daybreak Tuesday in western Maine and move eastward across the state. The snow will be light to moderate but steady at times. It's enough to slow down travel speeds and cause slippery travel for the commute.

Here's the hour-by-hour forecast of what you can expect:

When the flakes stop flying, amounts will be a lot more like you'd expect for March to come in like a lamb, not a lion by Maine standards. Expect a 3- to 6-inch snowfall total statewide with less in The County.

The next storm moves in quickly on Thursday, but it's likely rain at the coast and snow to rain inland, depending on the storm track and how much cold air we have left.
