Summer is on hold until this weather pattern changes

Raw and damp June weather continues into the workweek

After what can only be described as one of the most dramatic first few days of June in Maine things have settled into raw, gloomy and soggy. We went from seeing temps in the 80s and 90s to start the first Summer month and now we are lucky to see a few 60s this week.

We are locked into on and off showers for the next three days despite already seeing a weekend of raw and rainy conditions.

It’s all courtesy of an upper level low pressure system that is cut-off in the atmosphere. There’s also strong blocking to our north that has the weather highway (jet stream) all backed up.

That means tomorrow will see rain in the morning with clouds holding tough in the afternoon and temps staying well below the average.

Typically, this time of year we are around 70 degrees, but that will be a struggle for several days thanks to the area of low pressure seen on the weather map.

The good news is this type of weather will help your lawn and garden. It will also keep the pollen from being a major issue. It’s also not heavy enough rain to flood because it’s been so dry.

All in all this is not what many of us like to see for outdoor events during the beginning of June, but at least it’s not snow, right?
