Earthquake this weekend in the Bangor area confirmed

The USGS says it was a magnitude 2.1 earthquake, centered near Winterport at 6:36 a.m. Saturday.

WINTERPORT, Maine — The USGS has confirmed an earthquake in the Bangor area Saturday morning.

NEWS CENTER Maine viewers in Winterport, Hamden and Bangor all reported feeling the quick rumble Saturday morning.

The USGS says it was a magnitude 2.1 earthquake, centered near Winterport at 6:36 a.m. Saturday.

Earthquakes of this magnitude do happen in Maine, and there was one earlier this year in the Sabbatus area.
