More Rain & Snow...

Two storms per week, that's what we've been averaging for the last month or more. Today we get storm number 1.

Low pressure is developing to our south and will move through the Gulf of Maine this afternoon. The precipitation will be heavy at times this morning and midday before tapering off later on. The atmosphere will gradually warm through the morning, but enough cold is around through the foothills and mountains for a healthy dose of snow.

Following the storm, record cold temperatures will come rushing in. The sun will shine tomorrow but with temps in the 20s and gusty wind, wind chill values will be in the teens during the middle of the day!

The storm barrage doesn't stop. The second of the week will get us on Friday. With deep cold, an offshore storm track and good mid-level dynamics, there's a strong early season snow signal. At the moment I'm leaning toward accumulating snow even along the coastline.
