Ice, heavy rain, wind to start the week | CORY'S BLOG

Sunday will start off slick and slippery. A wintry mix returns into early Monday, with icy conditions once again.

The rest of the weekend and start to the week will be gray, icy, wet, and windy. Let's dive into the next two days.

SUNDAY: Areas of mixed precipitation will continue through much of the morning. We are already seeing some snow, sleet, and freezing rain. This is primarily in Southern and Western Maine. A few slick areas possible in Central Maine, too. Precip should level off later into the morning and afternoon. Please be careful traveling. There will be slippery spots at times.

High temperatures will be well below average for this time of year. Highs will stay in the 30s. Yuck.

MONDAY: The start of the week will be a messy one. Areas of mixed precip and freezing rain are likely Monday morning. The commute will be slick once again, especially for inland locations.

We will eventually see temperatures warm to the upper 30s and low 40s during the day. Rain will continue through the afternoon and evening. It could be heavy at times. About 1-2 inches of rain is possible. Some flooding is a concern, especially closest to rivers and streams.

Winds will also pick up and become gusty through the afternoon and evening. Wind gusts close to 40 MPH are likely, with some gusts a little higher than that.

Tuesday will see showers early, with some sunshine into the afternoon.
