A plane went off the runway at the Portland International Jetport Thursday morning but no injuries were reported.

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Several delays hindered travelers after a twin-engine plane went off the runway at the Portland International Jetport Thursday morning.

The small plane touched down around 10:30 a.m. without its landing gear extended causing the plane to go off the runway, according to the City of Portland.

Neither of the two people aboard were injured, but all runways at the Jetport were closed for more than an hour while the plane was removed from the area.

The accident caused a ripple effect of delays and plane diversions for other flights. Check here for flight information at PWM.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that they will investigate if pilot error or mechanical malfunction is to blame for why the landing gear did not work when the small aircraft tried to land on Runway 11. In the process of clearing the crash area, the plane's landing gear was successfully extended.

The aircraft was hauled away by noon.
