SCARBOROUGH, Maine — The southbound lanes of Route 1 were closed in the area of Scarborough Downs Road due to a two-vehicle crash Monday morning.
Those lanes were closed for about 20 minutes and have since reopened, according to Scarborough police.
Police said a vehicle on Scarborough Downs Road allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle turning left onto Route 1.
Police said both vehicles were heavily damaged, but there were no serious injuries.
According to police, a medical event may have led to the crash, but that has yet to be determined. The investigation is ongoing.
