Varsity Club: Andrew Wing, Windham H.S.

Andrew Wing says he likes to lead quietly and by example. Turns out, that speaks volumes. And it's the reason why the Raymond native and Windham High School senior is our newest inductee to the Varsity Club.

WINDHAM (NEWS CENTER MAINE) -- Andrew Wing has big plans for his future. Next up on his list of goals is to help the Windham basketball team earn a state title.

"I can't wait," says Andrew. "Coming up short last year makes you so hungry for this season, and I just can't wait to get started."

Andrew approaches everything in life with that same hunger. He's a leader on the basketball court, the soccer field, and the tennis court -- and has been all his life. His coach noticed his determination way back in elementary school.

"All you had to do was watch him run around for five minutes and it was obvious," says Andrew's middle school coach, Jim Beers. "I still use him today as the example for the teams I coach now. He's far graduated from the middle school, but he is still the person I talk about and the example we set for people to aspire to."

When asked where all his drive to succeed came from, Andrew pointed to the two people in his life who never stopped encouraging him to achieve his dreams.

"It would definitely have to be my parents," says Andrew. "They are always motivating me to study hard, work hard and take it to the next level."

The next level for Andrew is playing sports and earning his degree at a Maine college. He's not sure where yet, but he does know what he wants to study.

"I'm really interested in being a sports reporter so I'll probably study communications," says Andrew.

With a work ethic like his, we're sure this won't be the last time you see his face on TV.

Congratulations to Andrew Wing, the newest member of the Varsity Club!
