PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- An annual Thanksgiving Day tradition is being moved to Thanksgiving Eve.
Portland and Deering will now play the 107th Thanksgiving Day football game on November 21, the Wednesday before the holiday. Kickoff is a 4 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Portland Public Schools issued a statement saying the move was made because of the extremely cold temperatures predicted for Thanksgiving Day. City staff members plan to remove snow from Fitzpatrick Stadium prior to kickoff.
