PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- With two luge runs behind her, Emily Sweeney will be playing catch-up in her final two runs.

Sweeney completed her first run on Monday with a time of 46.595 seconds, which earned her an 11th ranking on the Olympic leaderboard in PyongChang. She ranked 23rd in her second run, clocked at 46.960 seconds. Cumulatively, that leaves her ranked 15th with a deficit of 1.101 second behind the leader.

Sweeney will have a night to rest and refocus before making her final two runs on Tuesday.


Although she calls Suffield, Conn. her hometown, Sweeney was born in Portland, giving Mainers their closest local connection to the U.S. women's Olympic luge team.
