Patriots ban fan who threw beer on Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill

"Gillette Stadium security has identified the fan who splashed Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill with beer, and he will now be disinvited from all future events."

FOXBORO, Mass. (USA TODAY Sports) — The Patriots are taking action against a fan who splashed beer onto Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill late in New England's 43-40 win by banning the person from "all future events at Gillette Stadium."

“Gillette Stadium security has identified the fan who violated the fan code of conduct by tossing beer onto a player during the game last night,” the Patriots said Monday afternoon in a statement. “The matter has been turned over to local law enforcement and the fan will be sent a letter of disinvite to all future events at Gillette Stadium.”

With 3:15 left to play in the game, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found Hill on a 75-yard catch-and-run that resulted in a touchdown that tied the game at 40.

Hill, after scampering down the left sideline at full speed, eventually slowed down when he approached the wall at the end of the end zone. Multiple fans gave Hill the middle finger, and the since-identified fan shook his beer bottle at Hill, resulting in the beer being splashed onto him.

Hill had seven catches for 142 yards and three touchdowns, but the Patriots eventually engineered a seven-play, 65-yard game-winning drive after Hill’s score. They capped it off with kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s 28-yard field goal as time expired.

After the game, Hill took the high road when asked about the post-play incident with the fan.

“My coach (Andy Reid) told me, ‘Don’t get emotional. Don’t get mad about it because it comes with the territory,’” Hill said after the game, according to The Boston Globe. “I’m not mad at all.”
