Harasymiak a finalist for FCS Coach of the Year

Maine Football Head Coach Joe Harasymiak is a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, given out annually to the top coach in the FCS

(NEWS CENTER Maine) -- More good news for the CAA Champion Maine Black Bears: head coach Joe Harasymiak has been named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year award.

The annoucement comes after yesterday's news that he and his team were ranked seventh during the FCS selection show and will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Maine will host either Jacksonville State or East Tennessee in the second round on December 1 at noon.

This is Harasymiak's third season as head coach. This season, he guided the Black Bears to their first outright CAA title win since 2013 and their third-ever win over an FBS opponent.

Next up for the team: light workouts and a break for the holiday. Coach Harasymiak says the real work starts next Monday as they prepare to face the winner of Saturday's Jacksonville State vs. East Tennessee state game.
