Janet Mills to be inaugurated as Maine's 75th Governor

Janet Mills will be inaugurated at the Augusta Civic Center on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

By the end of the day Wednesday, January 2, 2019, Maine will have a new governor. 

Janet Mills will finish moving into the Blaine House this morning and into the early afternoon. 

Then, Janet Mills will be sworn into office tonight at the Augusta Civic Center. 

The inauguration is open and free to the public, but you will need to request a ticket to get in.

Doors open at 4:30 pm for the 6 pm event.

Mills, a Democrat, has been serving as Maine’s attorney general will replace Republican governor Paul Lepage, who’s in his second term in office. 

Mills becomes the 75th governor of Maine and the first female governor.
