Poliquin's lawyers file appeal of RCV ruling

Rep. Poliquin is asking the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston to hear the case.

Rep. Bruce Poliquin's lawyers on Monday filed an appeal of a federal judge's Dec. 13 ruling that ranked-choice voting does not violate the U.S. Constitution.

Rep. Poliquin and three voters in Maine's 2nd Congressional District filed the initial suit on Nov. 13, shortly after Jared Golden was declared the winner.

Poliquin also requested a recount on Nov. 26, which he stopped last week because it appeared the outcome would not change.

Poliquin is asking the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston to hear the case.

His lawyer Josh Tardy is hoping the court will take it up as soon as possible.
