*UPDATE* – The Trump campaign now says the event will be a rally, not a town hall, and will be at the Merrill Auditorium at 3 p.m. Doors will open at noon.

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Donald Trump will return to Maine this Thursday. The Republican nominee will visit the city of Portland for the second time this election season.

Donald Trump has already been to Maine twice since announcing his bid for the presidency. He held a rally in Portland in March and another in Bangor about a month ago.

NEWS CENTER has confirmed with Nina McLaughlin, the Communications Director of the Maine Republican Party, that the presidential candidate Donald Trump will be coming to Portland. The Maine Republican Party received an email with the news - but not all details are set. Portland PD said they still have not received the official word from Trump's campaign.

NEWS CENTER spoke with conservative radio host Ray Richardson about what Trump's campaign could hope to gain by repeatedly coming to Maine.

Richardson said that he believes Trump’s repeated visits to Portland are deliberate and that he hopes to sway undecided voters.

“There are clearly some people who haven’t made up their minds,” said Richardson. “You go and talk to people who already agree with you, you’re not gaining anything. If you go somewhere where people don’t automatically agree with you, you’ve got an opportunity to create understanding.”
