Million Dollar Listing Maine: No detail 'Overlook'-ed in this magnificent Camden home

The 6,800 square foot house on 21 acres was inspired by the famous Gamble House in California—an iconic craftsman-style home built by the owner's great grandparents in 1908.

CAMDEN (NEWS CENTER Maine) – A home tucked into the hillside that overlooks Penobscot Bay was built with attention to detail that surpasses even the finest homes in Maine.

The 6,800 square foot house on 21 acres was inspired by the famous Gamble House in California — an iconic craftsman-style home built by the owner’s great-grandparents in 1908.

“This is the epitome of the arts and crafts design and style,” Scott Horty, President of Camden Real Estate Company said.

It was a passion project five years in the making that started with the construction of the 2,200-square-foot guest house.

The pair of homes sit on a meticulously maintained property with manmade ponds, a stone bridge and sweeping gardens that all fit seamlessly into the natural landscape.

There’s also an incredible cascading waterfall pool with a hot tub that also fit perfectly into the natural environment and offers sweeping views of the bay.

"The idea here really is to kind of frame the view and to get the long view which is a much more pleasant view of them being right down at the water’s edge," Horty said.

Inside, 23 varieties of stone, nine kinds of wood and extensive custom stained glass make every room of the three bedroom, five bath home truly unique.

The natural light pouring through the custom windows and wood paneling and elements make what most would think of as a dark style warm and inviting.

Completed in 2012, the home is fully wired with the latest technology that controls everything from lights, to heat and entertainment.

The home has a massive home theater that can seat the whole family and their guests.

There is also a massive home movie theater, sauna and wine cellar on the lower level.

As much as the property is designed around nature, it is also very environmentally friendly. There is a full solar array and a geothermal heating and cooling system to make the property more sustainable.

Absolutely no detail was overlooked in the construction of this breathtaking estate.

"All of the beauty, it just surrounds you and it fits so well into the natural environment up here,” Horty said. “It's really an extraordinary property."

Overlook is on the market for $7.9 million.
