Augusta man dies in 3-vehicle Windham crash involving tow truck

UPDATE 11/13 7 p.m. – Windham police identified the person who died in the crash along Route 115 as 34-year-old Adam Clark of Augusta.

Windham Patrol Capt. William Andrew said the crash, which happened in the area of 149 Tandberg Tr., involved a flatbed tow truck, a tractor-trailer truck and a Toyota Prius.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the tow truck crossed the center line and hit the two other vehicles, striking first the tractor-trailer, driven by 59-year-old David LaPlante of Waterville, and then the car, driven by Clark, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tow truck was being driven by 49-year-old Manford Rideout of Windham. He was taken to an area hospital for precautionary reasons, police said.

Route 115 was later reopened and power in the area was restored.

WINDHAM (NEWS CENTER Maine) — One person was killed in a multi-car accident Tuesday morning on Route 115 in Windham.

Snow and heavy rain Tuesday morning made roads slick and wet.

Police say the crash happened around 7:00 a.m. and Route 115 in Windham was closed between Route 302 and Falmouth Road for several hours as crews worked to investigate the fatal crash.
