Caldor Fire evacuees can return to Grizzly Flats with no restrictions starting this evening | Evacuation, maps, updates

Previously, some Grizzly Flats evacuees were able to return to their homes if they received a permit from the El Dorado County Sherriff's Office.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — Residents will be able to return to Grizzly Flats starting on Friday evening at 5 p.m., according to El Dorado County's Facebook post.

Some Grizzly Flats evacuees were able to return to their homes if they received a permit from the El Dorado County Sherriff's Office. They wouldn't need one starting Friday. 

While residents will not need a permit, the sheriff's office is providing residents information packets on what they need to know about re-populating the area that can be found here

Wildfire Preps

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.

The Department of Homeland Security suggests assembling an emergency kit that has important documents, N95 respirator masks, supplies to grab with you if you’re forced to leave at a moment’s notice. The agency also suggests signing up for local warning system notifications and know your community’s evacuation plans best to prepare yourself and your family in cases of wildfires.
