Truck hauling trailer crashes into Raymond home's porch

The driver, who suffered minor injuries, told police he swerved to avoid another truck being driven by someone using their cell phone.

RAYMOND (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A Raymond man suffered minor injuries Thursday when the truck he was driving crashed into a house.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said it happened around 6 p.m. on North Raymond Road.

Anthony Ganem, 53, of Raymond, told deputies he was forced to swerve out of the way of a red pickup truck driving in his lane. He told them the driver appeared to be using a cell phone while driving.

Ganem told police he was unable to gain control of his truck, which was hauling a dump trailer that had begun to sway. His truck left the road and crashed into the porch of the home.

A county dispatcher said Ganem was taken to the hospital.

The sheriff's office said the homeowner was present at the time of the crash but was not hurt.

The second vehicle believed to be involved did not stop and had not yet been identified, police said.

An investigation remains open. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 207-893-2810.
