Teens use tunes to help bring back memories

KENNEBUNK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Three teens from Kennebunk are creating playlists to help out a local nursing home.

With help from family and friends of residents at the Kennebunk Center for Health & Rehabilitation, Juli Ennis, Jason Albaum and Colby Ellis have designed specialized playlists for with those with Alzheimers and dementia.

Wedding dances, Childhood favorites, classic Christmas carols -- anything that will bring a smile or a song to their lips.

The teens help with headphones and song selection and spend an hour and a half two days a week getting to know those who came before them.

Their work is being recognized on a national level. Project Playback was one of three groups in the country to be selected for U.S. Cellular's the Future of Good Program, a distinction that comes with a prize of ten thousand dollars worth of new gear to keep the music going.

The creators of Project Playback were also given a trip to New York and will be featured in a video aimed at inspiring others to give back. They will also ring the New York Stock Exchange Closing Bell on Wednesday.
