AMHERST, Maine (NEWS CENTER) Two men face charges following an overdose related car-wreck in Amherst.

Deputy Dana Austin says the driver, 35-year-old Arnold Gross III, and his passenger 32-year-old Joseph Finnemore both of Old Town were suffering from suspected overdoses.

On October 5, 2016, at approximately 9:08 a.m., a 9-1-1 call came into Hancock County Communications Center about a possible impaired erratic driver on Route 9 in Amherst. Seconds later, the caller said the car went off the road and one person was passed out.

After arriving at the scene, Deputy Austin found Gross passed out and suffering from a suspected drug overdose. While trying to save him, passenger Finnemore also became unresponsive from a suspected drug overdose.

They were both taken by ambulance while police continued to investigate.

Arnold Gross III was charged with Operating Under the Influence and Joseph Finnemore was charged with Violation of Conditions of Release. Police say additional charges are likely.
