SWAT raid nets four suspects at So Portland motel

SOUTH PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) —

A SWAT team grabbed four suspects with flashbangs during a raid in South Portland.

Investigators said they carried out the high-risk search warrant at the Maine Motel Tuesday night as part of an ongoing operation by the South Portland Police Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Police used a non-lethal explosive device, or flashbangs, which may have been heard by neighbors. However, no guns were fired.

Freddie Mejias, 51, of Standish was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in heroin, aggravated trafficking in cocaine and possession of heroin.

Jorge Torres, 30, of South Portland was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in heroin and probation violation.

Aaron West, 36, of Westbrook was arrested on charges of robbery, violating conditions of release and a theft-related arrest warrant.

Misty Gagnon, 33, of Fort Fairfield, was arrested on charges of theft-related warrants.

Along with everyone police rounded up at the scene, they also tracked down a vehicle that left the motel in the midst of the raid and arrested the driver.

Police said no one was hurt in the course of the raid.
