Police identify victim of single-vehicle rollover into Scarborough Marsh

Police identify the man killed in the crash as 19-year-old Christopher Thompson of Old Orchard Beach.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — The Scarborough Police Dept. says one person is dead following a single-vehicle car crash on Pine Point Rd. in the area of the Scarborough Marsh. 

Police identify the man killed in the crash as 19-year-old Christopher Thompson of Old Orchard Beach.

Police say Thompson's vehicle rolled over into the marsh and he was found dead inside the car. 

The Scarborough Police and Fire Depts. responded to the scene around 10 a.m. Monday. Pine Point Rd. was shut down for several hours as they responded to the incident.

The crash is being investigated by the Scarborough Police Department with accident reconstruction being handled by the Saco Police Department.

Pine Point Rd. is closed from Route 1 to Old Blue Point Rd.

The Scarborough Fire Department says a car has gone into the marsh. 

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
