73-year-old Falmouth man dies in fire that started in a garage

One person has died in a fire at a home in Falmouth, officials say.

FALMOUTH (NEWS CENTER Maine) — One person died in a fire at a home on Gray Road in Falmouth on Saturday.

Crews were called to the scene around 5 o'clock Saturday evening. Falmouth Fire Chief Howard Rice, Jr. says the fire started in a car in the garage, which spread to the house.

73-year-old Richard Seiler of Falmouth was pulled from the home; he was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was inside.

Firefighters had the flames under control within half an hour, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate.
