1. JANET MILLS TAKES THE GOVERNOR OATH OF OFFICE

Janet Mills was officially inaugurated as Maine's 75th governor on Wednesday. Mills is the first female governor in the state's nearly 200 year history.

2. POLICE IDENTIFY TWO BODIES IN SOUTH PARIS

Maine State Police identified the bodies found in a South Paris apartment Tuesday night as Heather Bickford and Dana Hill. Two young children were also found unharmed at the scene. Autopsies are being performed to determine causes of death.

3. TAINTED BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION RECALLED

The blood pressure medication Valsartan is being recalled over concerns the drug may contain trace amounts of a cancer-causing substance. Experts recommend anyone taking the drug to continue to do so as directed but to immediately call a doctor to find out if your medication is affected and what your options are.

4. MOTHER IN CHILD DEATH CASE SEEKING ANNULMENT

Sharon Carrillo will appear in court Thursday seeking an annulment from her husband, Julio Carrillo, on the grounds that Julio was still married to another woman when they wed. Both Carrillos are accused of beating to death Sharon's 10-year-old daughter, Marissa Kennedy, to death in February of 2018.

5. DEMOCRATS TAKE OVER HOUSE IN WASHINGTON

Democrats are set to take over as the majority party in the House of Representatives Thursday. 434 lawmakers will take the oath of office and then select a majority speaker, likely Nancy Pelosi. Democrats took back the House of Representatives from Republican control by a 235 to 199 margin in the 2018 elections.
