NORRIDGEWOCK (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A man died after being pinned underneath a piece of farm equipment in Norridgewock.

Police say they were called on Thursday to a home on Ward Hill Road and found 56-year-old Francis Smith pinned underneath a manure spreader.

Police say Smith was working to repair the equipment when the front tongue jack, which appears to have been improperly pinned in place, rotated and caused the spreader to fall on him.

Police say Smith died at the scene. As for when the accident happened, the timeline is unclear. Police said family had not been able to get in contact with Smith since Monday.
