PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --
Some moms across the country demonstrated against gun violence by simply getting together.
One group of moms met at Portland's Eastern Prom on Saturday for a play-in.
It was a gun violence protest without of picketing and marching.
Instead, the moms and a few dads encouraged community connections with the hope that kids learn to support each other here and will think twice about using a mass shooting.
“Even though that's happening in other states it could just as easily happen here,” said Anna Gravel.
The Portland get-together was one of many happening all over the U.S. for Wear Orange 2018.
This year the day was dedicated to people killed each day by gun violence in America.
