BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Jury selection is now underway in the case of a man accused of a triple murder that happened in Garland back in 2014.
Keith Coleman is set to stand trial in the death of his then-girlfriend and her two children.
At least 60 people were called for selection at the Penobscot Judicial Center Monday.
Coleman has pleaded not guilty for the death of his girlfriend and her two children.
Thirty-six-year-old Christina Sargeant and her son and daughter were found dead back in December 2014 inside their home in Garland.
According to court documents, Coleman told investigators he ran after the children and strangled them after they witnessed their mother's death.
It was also later discovered that Coleman allegedly sexually assaulted Sargeant's 8-year-old daughter at the time of the killings.
Court documents also claim the couple had a history of domestic violence.
Selection is set to continue first thing Tuesday morning with another round of at least 80 people.
The trial is set to begin immediately after jury selection is complete.
