PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — An iconic Portland building is in foreclosure.
A bank has seized the time and temperature building on Congress Street from its Brooklyn-based ownership group.
Tenants in the building say they have been assured that their businesses are safe, and many are looking at the foreclosure as a chance for someone new to come in and make much needed improvements.
One of the issues that lead to the foreclosure was not being able to fill the building-- about 40% of it remains empty. Current residents believe with a little TLC, that problem can be solved quickly.
