Iconic Portland building seized by bank

The Time and Temperature building is in foreclosure, but many tenants see the change as an opportunity to restore the building to its former glory

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — An iconic Portland building is in foreclosure.

A bank has seized the time and temperature building on Congress Street from its Brooklyn-based ownership group.

Tenants in the building say they have been assured that their businesses are safe, and many are looking at the foreclosure as a chance for someone new to come in and make much needed improvements.

One of the issues that lead to the foreclosure was not being able to fill the building-- about 40% of it remains empty. Current residents believe with a little TLC, that problem can be solved quickly.
