High heat, humidity make it feel like 95 to 100 Monday, then storms rumble | Breton Blog

It will feel like 95 to 100 degrees during the middle of the afternoon.

The week will start out with high heat and humidity, but it only lasts for a day. Storms will rumble through Monday afternoon and evening, putting an end to the sizzle.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for York County, where the most intense heat is expected.

High temperatures will reach the 90s in central, southern and western Maine. A south-southwest wind will come off the ocean in the Midcoast and Downeast; as usual, here it will not be as hot.

Monday morning will start out with a few showers and storms in northern Maine. It will be dry elsewhere with a mix of clouds and sun. The humidity will start to increase during the morning, but it shouldn't be terribly high first thing.

By midday, temperatures will hit 90 in western Maine. During the middle of the afternoon, temperatures in the mid 90s with high humidity will feel like nearly 100 degrees in York County.

Storms will start to fire in the mountains around 3 p.m. An isolated, pop-up storm is possible elsewhere by this time.

Any storms that develop can become severe with damaging wind gusts being the primary threat. The highest risk for severe weather is in western and northern Maine (yellow shading).

Storms will move from northwest to southeast during the afternoon and evening. They will be scattered - meaning not all areas will be hit - but, be ready to seek shelter if a storm rolls into your area.

It will remain very humid until the cold front passes through overnight Monday night.

We'll have updates on the heat, humidity and storms through the day Monday.
