Gifford's Famous Ice Cream founder dies at age 90

In 1971, the Giffords moved from Connecticut to Farmington, Maine -- where they owned and operated Gifford's Dairy, Inc., and founded Gifford's Famous Ice Cream in Skowhegan.

(NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The founder of one of Maine's most famous ice cream chains has passed away at the age of 90.

Randall Gifford of Gifford's Ice cream passed away on Monday, May 21 with his wife Audrey by his side, according to a Facebook post on the company's page.

In 1971, the Giffords moved from Connecticut to Farmington, Maine -- where they owned and operated Gifford's Dairy, Inc., and founded Gifford's Famous Ice Cream in Skowhegan.

Randall was past president of the Maine Milk Dealers Association and served on the Maine Dairy Council.
