Get that Apple money: iPhone No. 1 sign you have serious cash flow, study says

Many of us have seen really sweet rides on the road at least once in our lives, ie. a super nice Mercedes, or a Porsche, and thought, 'Wow, that person must be loaded.'

A new study says owning an iPhone is the number one sign that you're pretty well off. Of course, it's not always the case and many of us are saying, "I wish." Not a bad ego boost though, right?

According to Business Insider, the data comes from the National Bureau of Economic Research. They say they found owning an iPhone gave researchers a nearly 70% chance of correctly predicting the iPhone owner has a high income. In this case, a high income is any wage in the top 25%.

The iPad was the second-most likely indicator of wealth, followed by using Verizon Wireless and owning an Android phone.

Fun fact: these researchers say Grey Poupon Mustard was the number one indicator of wealth in 1992. In 2004, three years before the first iPhone, it was Land 'O' Lakes butter.
