First Waterfront Concert of the Year

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Summer is right around the corner and that is evident with people lining the streets to attend the first Waterfront Concert of the season.

Jason Aldean, Luke Combs and Lauren Alaina are kicking it off in Bangor and Tom Workman, manager at Season's, says it's good to have Waterfront Concerts back.

"It makes a huge difference to the community. Hotels, restaurants, bars and lounge, I'm sure convenience stores too. Everybody benefits from the activity. Especially a huge name like Jason Aldean." He said.

Although some locals may be traveling this holiday weekend, there Workman says in the past they have seen a lot of out of town concert goers.

"People from Canada, people from the New England area, look at this spot as not only a great place to see a concert but a nice place to maybe spend two or three days on vacation." He said.

Some of those New Englanders that attend the concerts come up from southern Maine.

Holly Green came up from the Portland area to see Jason Aldean for the first time.

"He did not come down where we are. There's no very large venues in Portland. There's smaller venues so we don't get a lot of big artists." She said.

The Waterfront Concerts are great for business everyday but Workman says they're especially helpful on "off days."

"Mid-week, a Sunday, those types of concerts are really beneficial." He said.

Some other big names coming to Bangor this summer are Logic, Imagine Dragons and Kenny Chesney.
