Brewer Food Pantry Receives Donation

The Brewer OHI Food Pantry receives a truckload of food from construction company Nickerson & O'Day Inc.

BREWER (NEWS CENTER Maine) – The OHI Brewer Food Pantry receives a literal truckload of food supplies days before Thanksgiving. The Brewer-based construction company Nickerson & O’Day delivered the items on Tuesday, November 20. This marks the sixth year in a row Nickerson and O’Day has delivered a truck full of supplies.

“They come every year with a great, big, huge truckload, and it’s been great,” said Brewer Food Pantry Coordinator Cindy Copeland. Copeland believes this donation will go on to help feed community through Thanksgiving and even through the end of the year. Copeland added there will be roughly 1,000 people who will be helped by this donation.

Nickerson & O’Day President and CEO Karl Ward sees the importance of helping the community before the holiday season. “This is the time of Thanksgiving and I think you should be giving thanks for what you have yourself,” said Ward. “It puts a smile on our face and we’ll be back again next year.”

This donation comes just two days before Thanksgiving. Cindy Copeland sees how valuable these contributions can be to the volunteers and workers of the food pantry. “It brings a lot of energy because this will actually last us quite a few months,” said Copeland.

The Brewer Food Pantry accepts donations for individuals and businesses all year long.
