Gregory Owens convicted of trying to kill his wife in masked home invasion

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A federal court jury in Portland has convicted Gregory Owens of trying to kill his wife. Owens who is from Londonderry, NH broke into his wife's home in Saco wearing a mask and shot her. It took just three hours for a jury to find Owens guilty of interstate domestic violence and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Owens testified in his own defense last week and denied the accusations. Owens is accused of driving from his house in New Hampshire to the home of Steve and Carol Chabot in Saco where he shot his wife who was suffering from early dementia.

Owens shot both his wife Rachel and the owner of the home, Steve Chabot three times each. Both survived. Chabot's wife Carol escaped injury by hiding in another room.
