BALTIMORE, Md. (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A Goucher College student from Brunswick, Maine, was arrested and charged Thursday in Baltimore, Maryland, following the discovery of racially charged graffiti found inside dormitory bathrooms at the college.

Fynn Ajani Arthur, 21, was charged with two counts of malicious destruction of property, the Baltimore County Police Department announced Friday.

Police said the first incident was reported at about 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 14 after a student found racially charged graffiti written in permanent black marker in a first-floor bathroom stall.

The graffiti included the following, police said: a swastika symbol, a racially motivated threat, and the numbers of three dormitory rooms occupied by black male students.

Students in those rooms were interviewed at the time and, according to police, none could provide any suspect information or motive for the graffiti. Arthur, police said, was one of those students.

About two weeks later on Thursday, Nov. 29, police said a second incident was reported around 2 a.m. after a student discovered racially charged graffiti in a second-floor bathroom stall.

Police said the graffiti, found in the same building as before, had swastikas and the letters "KKK," and appeared to show the last names of four black students — among which included Arthur's.

Baltimore County investigators worked with Goucher College Public Safety and partnered with federal FBI agents Thursday, concluding the Nov. 14 and Nov. 29 incidents involved the same suspect.

Police said evidence collected Thursday indicated the suspect was Arthur, who was found on campus and arrested at about 6 p.m. He's been denied bail status pending a review hearing.
